The Vatican Museums are public art and sculpture museums located in Vatican City. The museums contain a wide collection of 70,000 works, having 20,00 on display from famous artists such as Michelangelo. The art has been collected by the Catholic Church dating back to the 16th Century. Pope Julius II established the sculpture collection in the Octagonal Courtyard.
